ALTO - Funeral services for Opal Dixon Shuptrine, 97, of Longview and formerly of Alto, will be Tuesday, May 29th, at 2 p.m. at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home chapel in Alto with the Rev. Gene Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Lynches Chapel Cemetery near Alto.

Opal Dixon Shuptrine, born on Sept. 30, 1914, to William and Betty Dixon of Alto, passed away early Saturday morning on the 26 of May 2012. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gresham near Tyler.

Mrs. Shuptrine was employed with the Rusk State Hospital for 23 years. She graduated in 1964 with a degree as an LVN, retiring in 1976. She lived most of her life in Alto, and later in Rusk, Gresham, Tyler and Longview.

She was an avid traveler, always seeking new experiences and places to see. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, doll-making and cooking. Her deepest passion was reading her Bible on a daily basis, always eagerly sharing her faith in our Lord given any opportunity.

Mrs. Shuptrine, called Mim by her family, was preceded in death by her husband, Mansel (Bud) Shuptrine, and is survived by two daughters, Carleen Shirel, wife of Wayne Moses of Tyler, and Anita Daryl, wife of Michael Chapman of Longview. Of her surviving siblings, she leaves a sister, Ruth Pierce, of Austin, and a brother, Morris Dixon, of Rusk. Her legacy includes eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday before the service starts.

Memorials may be made to Beacon Hospice in Longview, or to the hospice of your choice.
