Alta August Allen is the daughter of Augustus C Allen and Evelyn Clara Huck. She was born in Florissant, Teller, Colorado. Her father died in 1912 when Alta was only 4 years old. Their family then moved to Grand Junction, Mesa, Colorado. Alta married Harmon Cleo Harmon on 21 Apr 1936 and they had two children, Homer Walter Harmon was born in 1937 and Katherine Harmon was born in 1938. Their family settled in Hunter District, Fruita, Mesa, Colorado. On 23 Oct 1939 Homer went to town and when he returned he found his wife and two children died. The children had been playing near a fire outside and caught on fire. The children ran to the house where their mother was and she tried to save them. They all died from burns from the fire.
