Larry is the grandson of the late Thad and Beryl Babb of Dalton and Walter and Ara Hyde of the Carbondale Community. Larry is also preceeded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in- law Jim and Jessie Quinn of Dalton. Larry is the son of the late James Carlton and Dorothy Hyde Babb of Smyrna.
Larry is survived by his wife Marian Quinn Babb of Dalton, son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Karen Babb of Ringgold; daughter, son-in-law and grandson Amy, David and Ben Weaver also of Dalton; brother and spouse Mike and Karen Babb of Rocky Face; sister, Jane Babb Whitaker of Marietta and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was a graduate of Berry High School in Rome and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed for many years with E&B Colortech and later Shaw Industries. Larry was a member of Dug Gap Baptist church where he had served as deacon. Mr. Babb was a former member and coach with the Dug Gap Youth Athletic Association, PTA president, Scout Master and volunteer with the Southeast Raider marching band. A longtime member of the Dug Gap community, Larry was a hard worker, friend to all and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Dug Gap Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bagley officiating. Burial will be in the Dug Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cochran, Joey Kelley, Frank Taylor, Mike Trotter, Bud Haley and Jack Broadrick.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Funeral Home today from 6 until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to Dug Gap Baptist Church, 2031 Dug Gap Road, Dalton, GA 30720 in memory of Mr. Babb.
