He was a banker, and one of the first one hundred shareholders of the Guilford Battleground Company, also an officer of the Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railroad. Mr. Gray contributed to the growth of Greensboro as a city. He was the husband of Emma Morehead Gray. Father of Anne, Percy, Jessie, Mary, Eugenia, and John. The family lived on Fisher Park Circle.
