On Jan 7th 1944 John Hodson joined the United States Army. He reported to the 45th Infantry in Italy. John served in France, Italy, and Germany. John was in Munich,Germany on May 8th 1945, on V-E Day. John returned to New York in June of 1945, and was discharged on Nov. 10th 1945.
John returned to Roseburg, Oregon and purchased the Red & White Grocery Store.In 1953 he sold the Grocery store and moved to Grants Pass and worked for Byrd's Market as checker, and Assistant Manager until 1969 when he retired.
