Tallahassee Florida - March 26, 2008

James Edward Woodham Sr. BRISTOL - Mr. James Edward Woodham Sr., 71, of Mansfield, Texas, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at his residence.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, March 27, at Meacham Cemetery in Bristol, Fla. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Peavy Funeral Home (850-674-2266) in Blountstown, Fla. James was born July 29, 1936, in Blountstown and had lived in Texas for several years.

Mr. Woodham was a retired first sergeant who served in the United States Army for 24 years. He was with the 82nd Airborne, Green Beret, Special Forces. James' fellow soldiers knew him as "Woody." He also retired from the United States Postal Service with 22 years of service. James loved the Lord, his family, friends, pets and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Mittie V. Kelley Woodham of Bristol; his brothers, Aaron and Bill Woodham; and a sister, Sarah Nell Woodham.

Survivors include his wife, Sena Locke Woodham of Mansfield; two sons, James E. Woodham Jr. (and wife Patricia) of Prattville, Ala., and Jim Furr of Dallas; five daughters, Vicki W. Griffeth of Dallas, N.C., Donna McDougald (and husband Darrell) of Blountstown, Cathie Piland (and husband Mark) of Tallahassee, Michelle Martinez (and husband Amado) of Visalia, Calif., and Toia Furr of Tallahassee, Fla.; three brothers, Robert Woodham (and wife Elfriede) of Bristol, Tom Woodham (and wife Nancy) of Lawton, Okla., and William Woodham (and wife Margie) of Bristol; three sisters, Betty Linzy of Tallahassee, Juanita Marshall (and husband George) of Dade City, Fla., Mary Jane Dawson of Bristol, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
