Dorothy Elizabeth Turner Lomax, 76 of Caroline County entered into eternal rest after a long illness on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

She was born on August 25, 1934 to the late Lillie and Samuel Turner, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Lomax, a son Raymond E. Lomax, a great-granddaughter Nia Allen, two brothers Samuel Turner, Jr. and Boyd A. Turner, Sr., and four sisters Virginia M. Reynolds, Peggy Y. Allen, Mary E. Turner and Joyce M. Turner.

She was a long-standing member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia, serving on the Missionary until her health started to fail. Prior to joining Macedonia Baptist Church, she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia where she served on the Usher Board for many years.

She leaves to mourn her death her children, two daughters, Cathelia Ann Allen (Paul) and Linda Patricia Lomax (Bernard); five sons, Walker Lomax, Sandy Lee Lomax (Dorothy), Randy Lindsey Lomax (Judy), Charles MacDonald Lomax, and Stacey Wendell Lomax; three sisters, Jeanette T. Green, Lottie B. Armstead and Emma J. Woolfork; two adopted sisters, Delores Coleman and Nannie Walker; five sisters-in-law, Gloria Washington, Bernice Branch, Doris Lomax, Janice Turner, and Oser Turner; five brothers-in-law Charles Turner, Leonard Armstead, Eddie Woolfork, John Allen and Delano Rollins; eighteen grandchildren, Paul Larmar Allen, Jeanie Lomax, Jason Lomax, Sandy Lomax, Jr., Kimberly Adams, Maria Adams, Quincy Lomax, Sammy Washington, Jordan Washington, Laticia Toles, Charlene Toles, Frankie Toles, Tania Reynolds, Tamia Reynolds, Aretha Branham, Wendy Branham, Stacey Branham, Ashley Branham; and sixteen great-grandchilden.

Visitation will he held from 4pm to 8pm Sunday, April 10, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 pm at A. L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home located at 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22408. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 11, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia with the Rev. Carroll L. Jackson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Long Branch Baptist Church cemetery.
