He was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Warsaw, the son of Vernon and Dorothy Wallet Groves. He was a mechanic and a commercial fisherman. He married Betty Jones on Sept 1, 1962, in Dongla, Ark. He was a lifelong resident of the Keokuk area and lived in Montrose for the past 13 1/2 years.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife; his sons, Dennis Groves of Keokuk, and Billy and Troy, both of Montrose; a daughter, Becky Hutson of Keokuk; a step-daughter, Brenda Crowell of Keokuk; one grandson; brothers, Frank Groves of San Pedro, Calif.; and Joe Groves of Linneus, Mo.; sisters, Dorothy Coovert of Grandview, Mary Ann Wreiden of Donnellson, Ida parrish of Williamstown, Helen Egley of Mouten, Iowa, and Maxine Rossiter of Keokuk; three step-sisters and two step-brothers; several nieces and nephews; an aunt and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his ste-mother; two brothers, a step-sister and a step-brother.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the DeJong Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Klinger officiating.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m.l Tuesday at DeJong's Funeral Home and the family will meet with friends from 7-9p.m.
Memorials may be made at the discretion of the family.
