DORRANCE - Helen R. Heffel, 92, died Feb. 2, 2007, at Golden Living Center, Wilson. She was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Schneider, the daughter of the Rev. Johann J. and Georgina Mathilda Borell Lind. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to First Lutheran Church, Dorrance, where she was also the organist. She was a member of Dorrance Homemakers FCE and Dorrance EHU. On Aug. 20, 1936, she married Arthur Heffel. He died in 1984.

Survivors include: three sons, Larry, Lenexa, and Arlan and Marvin, both of Dorrance; a daughter, Karen Kircher, Indianola, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Dorrance, with Sister Diane Wagner presiding. Visitation is from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Foster Mortuary, Wilson, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Dorrance City Cemetery. Foster Mortuary, Wilson, is in charge of arrangements.
