Wife of Andrew Baker Simpson, married 10 October 1874. Lived first year of marriage in Sedalia, Pettis Co MO, then moved to what would become Millsap, in Parker Co TX. Her eight children were all born in Millsap. The family moved to eastern New Mexico, to Six-Shooter Siding, about 1901. The Simpsons opened one of the first businesses along the railroad. The place eventually became known as Tucumcari. Martha Jane, with her husband and oldest son (Earnest) tried their hand at cattle ranching near Redonda Mesa (18 miles south of town)for a few years before retiring back to Tucumcai.

Death Notice from "Tucumcari News" Thursday, 21 July 1927: "Mrs. A.B. Simpson passed away Friday night at Pueble, Colorado. Mr. Simpson had arrived Thursday night to be with his wife, whohad been ill for sometime.
The body was brought to Tucumcari for burial, which took place Tuesday morning from the Church of Christ. Interment was at Sunnyside Cemetery.
Deceased was seventy-four years old, and is survived by her husband, four daughters and three sons.
Two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Daughtry, of Roswell, and Mrs. May Baker, of Las Cruces were here for the funeral."
