He was a physician. He was not born in 1854 as inscribed on his grave marker, but in 1853 [Source: Life and Times of Daniel Lindley 1801-1880 by Edwin W. Smith, page 286]. He married first to Marian DuBois Floyd, the daughter of Nicoll Floyd and Cornelia A. DuBois, on September 22, 1885 at St. George's Church in New York City, New York. They had one daughter, Ella Marian Lindley. After the death of Marion on July 23, 1887, he married second to Laura Catherine Marshall about 1899, as they indicate they have been married 11 years on the 1910 census; however, this census cites four other items incorrectly: her age as 36 (should be 49), his age as 51 (should be 57), her birth state as Virginia (should be Illinois) and that this is a first marriage for both (should be second for both). Charles & Laura had no children.

The obituary posted indicates that his second wife's name was Mary Lora Marshall, but that is in error and should read Laura Catherine Marshall. It also duplicates the error of his birth in 1854.
