Bernard "Barney" Pepowski, age 91, of Wausau, WI, passed into the light on July 10, 2004, at his home. A Funeral Mass was held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Wausau, Rev. Joseph Gyim-Austin officiating. Burial in Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Wausau. Mr. Pepowski was born April 23, 1913, on the home farm in the town of Sharon near Shantytown, son of the late John and Mary (Singer) Pepowski. He was married to Clara Schulist on Oct. 24, 1937, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Torun. She died Feb. 6, 1971. He retired on Jan. 1, 1977, from the Milwaukee Railroad, where he had worked as a section laborer and foreman. A founding member of Holy Name Parish, a member of the Holy Name Society and helped with building the convent. Survivors include six daughters, Loretta (James) Stachowiak, Milwaukee, Ann Marie (James) Sulzer, Cedarburg, Joanne (Thomas) Haupt, Greendale, Patricia (John) Panosh and Mary Kaye (Michael) Laska, both of Wausau, and Judith (Patrick) Lynch, Mount Pleasant, MI; one son, Joseph (Mary Beth), Wausau; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
