Nancy Ann (Fowler)(Pearson) Thomas was born to Dicy (Hendrix) and (First Name Unknown) Fowler. She married Thomas Pearson about 1820 and migrated with her husband, her Fowler family, and her Hendrix uncles and grandparents to Hardeman County, TN.

Family history says that she lost 4 or 5 children to the "fever" and in Aug 1829, her husband, Thomas Pearson, caught the measles but went out to bring in his crops anyway and died of pneumonia two days before their last and only surviving child, Ira James Lee Pearson, was born. She and Ira first moved in with her grandparents, Wm and Nancy Ann (Bratcher) Hendrix in Hardeman County and lived there during 1830 census, before she married William Thomas there on 22 Dec 1831. William and Nancy settled in nearby Jacks Creek, Henderson (now Chester), Tennessee near her brother, Miles W Fowler, and her mother, Dicy (Hendrix) Fowler. Wm and Nancy visited Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1837 to settle her first husband's estate.

William and Nancy had the following children:
Dicy A Thomas 1833 – 1912
Benjamin F Thomas 1834 – 1871
Solomon Thomas 1836 – 1887
Miles W Thomas 1838 – 1863
Daniel N Thomas 1844 – Abt 1862
Nancy Emeline Thomas 1846 – 1917
Wiley Berry Thomas 1848 – 1920
Sarah Elizabeth Thomas 1849 – 1904

Nancy was buried in the old Thomas family cemetery on a hill top in a pasture. Located about 1 mile east of Jacks Creek and south of Hwy 100. The original farm house was evidently below nearer the road. The graves there are:
-William Thomas (husband)
-Nancy (Fowler) Thomas (self)
-Miles W Thomas (son)
-Benjamin F Thomas (son)

Both Miles and Benjamin were unmarried and died from wounds received during the Civil War. It is believed that Daniel Thomas was buried on the battlefield. All three were CSA - 27 Reg. TN Vols.

Benjamin's siblings not buried in this cemetery are: Dicy Ann Thomas (Mrs Bennett Tillman), Solomon G Thomas, Wiley Berry Thomas, Nancy Emeline Thomas (Mrs Leander Rhodes), Daniel N Thomas, and Sarah Elizabeth Thomas (Mrs John Garrett).

[Jacks Creek was originally part of Henderson County but became part of Chester County when it was created. Chester County was the last county formed in Tennessee, created by the General Assembly in 1875 from adjacent parts of neighboring Hardeman, Henderson, McNairy, and Madison Counties. This land was used to create a county named Wisdom County, but "Wisdom County" was never organized, and in March 1879 the Assembly repealed this and created Chester County out of the same land. Lawsuits by opponents of the creation of the new county delayed actual organization until 1882.]
