In Jan 1837 the Muckle Yard property of Louisa's late husband William, merchant and fish curer in Wick, was advertised for auction.

At age 50 Louisa and her children departed from Port Aberdeen, Scotland onboard the Circassian vessel and arrived in New York on 3 Aug 1837.

In 1840 she resided in Madison, Jefferson, Indiana, USA where her daughter Isabella married John Ingle.

She then resided in Evansville, Vanderburgh, Indiana, USA from 1850 until her death at age 84.
