ESCONDIDO - Jack E. Altman, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 1996, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born April 29, 1913, in Lampasas, Texas, he lived in Escondido for six years. A roofing contractor, he owned Sta-Rock Roofing Co. for 50 years. He was the last of 13 children and adopted five children into his family.
Mr. Altman is survived by his wife of 35 years. Beatrice C. Altman of Escondido; stepson Morris Cooper of Oceanside; daughters Jackie Wimberly of Safford, Ariz., Jeanne Finch of Moreno Valley, Linda Krebs of Las Vegas, Nita Altman, Mary Altman, Melody Altman, Marlana Altman and Nora Altman, all of Escondido; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Oak Hill Memorial Park, with Deacon Tom Maher officiating.
Alhiser-Wilson Mortuary is in charge of arrnagements.
