Samuel F. Pruitt died suddenly at his home in this city, early Friday morning, aged 68 years. The funeral service was held at the house Sunday morning,W. Unoe Allee officiationg and the burial was at Old Salem Cememtery, some six miles north of California.
He was born on Brush Creek in this county, then Cole County, in 1838, raising quite a large family of children. Sam Pruitt served four years in the Confederate army, making a good soldier. He located in Miller County some 80 years ago where he married and six children surivied him, four girls and two sons, two or three of whom are single. He came from Miller County to California a few years ago and has for some time been suffering with asthma. He was out of town the afternoon previous to his death and went to bed as usual.
