"One of Otsego County's leading farmers and Holstein breeders, Ford W. McLaury of Portlandville, died Friday at the Fox Hospital in Oneonta. He was 60 years old. Mr. McLaury was born November 30, 1889, son of Washington R. and Minnie (Packer) McLaury. On October 15, 1912, he married the former Mildred C. Ingalls, who survives. He was a member of the McLaury Brothers of Portlandville, owners and operators of ten farms in the Town of Milford and Maryland, known as River Meadow Farms. For ten years, Mr. McLaury served the Town of Milford as supervisor, from 1931 to 1941. He was a director and active member of the Eastern Milk Producers Association for many years and was a member of the Methodist Church at Portlandville. Mr. McLaury's Holstein herd was one of the best known in the state and brought premium prices at the dispersal sale when Mr. McLaury and his partner and cousin, Dorr W. McLaury, ceased operation of their major enterprise. Besides his wife, Mr. McLaury is survived by his mother; a daughter, Mrs. Alvin Osterhout of Alfred; a nephew, Stuart R. McLaury of Cherry Valley; two nieces, Mrs. Samuel Patton, Rensselaer, and Mrs. Warren Carner, Castleton-on-Hudson, and his cousin and partner. Funeral services were held at the Portlandville home Monday, with Rev. William C. Winchell of the Portlandville Methodist Church officiating. Burial took place in Pinegrove Cemetery, Portlandville."
