Born in Washington, D.C. on December 27, 1927, he was the son of the late, John Raymond Alcorn and Ellen Pedrick Hanna Alcorn.

Ray graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School. On November 7, 1950, he enlisted in the US Army and later served in Germany during the Korean War for the 43rd infantry division. After the war, he put himself through college by playing the bass violin with a band at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. Later, he attended the American University School of Business Administration and received a Bachelor of Science Degree as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He worked at the National Institutes of Health in the employment department. He then created a placement service called Ray Alcorn Associates, which later became Interac Inc. He later was a recruiter for Robbins Gioia in Alexandria, VA. After moving to Tilghman he received a commercial real estate license and worked for Hogan’s Real Estate Company in Chestertown.

He was married first to Patricia Anne Cox and they gave birth to a daughter Anita Ann.

After divorce, he married Margaret Lee Melbourne (Peggy) on April 6, 1964, and they gave birth to a daughter Barbara Lee. Margaret later adopted Anita. They resided in Derwood, Maryland until retiring to Tilghman Island. Margaret died in February of 2002.

On October 8, 2003 he married Evelyn Reeser, and they resided in Tilghman.

Mr. Alcorn was a member of the Laytonsville Lions Club.

Mr. Alcorn was an individual who enjoyed doing things for others. His home was located behind the Southern Church on Tilghman Island. He donated a portion of his property to be used for cemetery lots and included funding for perpetual care. He enjoyed living in Tilghman and especially enjoyed his many friendships with the local people.

Mr. Alcorn is survived by his wife, Evelyn Reeser Alcorn of Tilghman, MD, two daughters, Anita A. Cacapardo of Germantown, MD, Barbara A. Collins and husband David of Monrovia, MD; two step-sons, Henry Reeser, Jr. of Tilghman and Charles Reeser of Chestertown; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
