Julia Clara May Moser was born in the Cross Roads community near Stella, Mo., Dec. 9, 1891 and departed this life in St John's Hospital in Joplin Jan. 28, 1961 at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 19 days. She was the daughter of Ben F. and Lucinda M. Moser. She was reared in a good Christian home and was baptized early in life and always maintained a steadfast faith in God. She was united in marriage with Samuel J. Tilden Alfrey, June 24, 1910, who departed this life Jan. 30, 1943. To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters, all of whom are living except one son, Samuel J. Tilden, Jr. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. "Pat" Murphy, Jan. 29, 1959 and resided near Stella, Mo., until bis death Aug. 24, 1960. Her home was in Joplin at the time of her death. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Elswick of La nag an, Mo., Mrs. Louetta Elswick of Webb City, Mo., Mrs. Wilma Jack son of Anaheim, Calif., and Mrs. Wanda Cates of Rivera, Calif., and two sons, William W. Alfrey of Los Angeles, and Airman First Class Ben F. Alfrey of Tucson, Ariz., and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon Feb. 1, at the Union Church by Rev. John by Williams. Burial was in the Union cemetery under direction of the Pogue Funeral Home.
