Miss Doris M. Burden, 67, of Midland, a former Traverse City resident, died Saturday evening at Solem Nursing Home, Traverse City, after five months' illness.
Miss Burden was born in Traverse City in 1897, the daughter of James J. and Francanna Burden, was a 1916 graduate of Traverse City Senior High School, and attended Needham Business College in the city, Muss Burden was a bookkeeper at Brown Lumber & Supply Company in Traverse City for 23 years, then from 1946 until her retirement in 1962 was employed in the offices of Dow Chemical Co. at Midland. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Midland.
Surviving are one brother, Cobbie Burden of Manistee, three nieces and one nephew, and other relatives.
The body was taken to Hibbard funeral chapel in Traverse City, with a requiem mass to be held at Traverse City Grace Episcopal Church at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday and funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church, Rev. Fr. Francis Foley officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery (Traverse City Record Eagle, 20 July 1964, page 17, column 3).
