THE OBSERVER: Thursday, Dec. 7, 1944:

LAMBTON COUNTY PIONEER PASSES:
John Elliott, a pioneer resident of Lambton County who farmed on the London road for many years, died this morning at the residence of his son, Malcolm Elliott, 397 Savoy street. He was 88 years of age. Born in London Township, Mr. Elliott moved to the London Road district when he was 18 years of age. He farmed there until three years ago when the family moved to Sarnia. He and Mrs. Elliott were married 60 years ago on the thirtieth of this month. In politics Mr. Elliott was a Conservative and he was a member of the Presbyterian church. Among the survivors are his widow, Emily Brunette Elliott; five daughters, Mrs. Blanche Wilson, Mrs. Richard Morden, Mrs. Herbert Rinker, Mrs. Elmer Bissell and Mrs.James Rider, three sons; David, Malcolm and William, and a brother, Malcom of Chicago. The remains will be at the family residence until 10 o'clock Saturday morning. The funeral will be held from the Robb Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock. Interment will be at Wyoming cemetery.
