Funeral Rites Scheduled Today for Linden Woman

Funeral services were to be held at 3:30 p.m. today in Linden Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Nellie Hawley, 71, a resident of this community virtually all her life, whose death occurred in St. Joseph's Hospital at Flint Sunday from a heart attack. The Rev. Isaac Parrish will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Hawley received a compound fracture of her left leg, July 11 when she fell from a step ladder while picking cherries at the home of Mr. & Mrs. L. W. Hatt on Oak Street.

She was born at Lyons, February 21, 1868, the daughter of William and Mary Ferguson. She came with her parents to this community when four years old. Her husband, Dean Hawley, Linden barber for many years, died in 1917. After his death, she resided in Flint for 15 years, returning to Linden in 1937.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Devereaux and a grandson Dean Devereaux of Knoxville, Tennessee; a sister, Mrs. L. Webber and her niece, Mrs. Coral Webber, both of Linden.
