Robert W. Sleek Sr., 79, of Altona, died on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at his residence.

He was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Garrett to the late Clarence "Dale" and Mary Ester "Lucille" (Snyder) Sleek.

Robert owned and operated Sleeks Service in Altona from 1970 - 2001. He had also worked for Rohm Chevrolet and Yoder Ford as a mechanic and for the City of Garrett. He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime before the Korean conflict.

He was a member of the First Church of Christ and Garrett American Legion Post 178, and had been a member of the Altona Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are five daughters, Janet (Larry) Snyder of Stroh, Doris (Gary) Jarnagin of Indianapolis, Bonnie Bunn of Acworth, Ga., Judy (Jim) Parker of Stroh, and Lynda (Jerry) Scheurich of Rome City; four sons, Robert W. Sleek Jr, of Pennsylvania, Bryan (Misty) Sleek of Auburn, Richard Ray of Stroh, and Gaile (Mary) Ray of Hamilton; a sister, Sonia (Tom) Angel of Lexington, Mich, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Sleek on July 28,m 1987; and his wife Carol Sleek, on August 16, 2010 two brothers, Clarence and Thomas Sleek; a son-in-law, Thomas Bunn Sr.; a grandson, Troy Ray and a great-granddaughter, Emily Dingus.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett, with Brother Bud Owen officiating. A military graveside service followed at the Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett.
