Allan Wolcott Anger, 76, of Phoenix AZ passed away on November 17, 2010.
Allan was born in Rochester NY, attended Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan NY. He enlisted underage in the NY National Guard and served in the Korean war. He was commissioned a second lieutenant from Officer Candidate School in 1953. He was rated an army aviator in 1964. He served in Vietnam as a huey helicopter pilot. In 1986 he became the Deputy Adjutant General of NY. Allan's military service concluded in 1991 after serving his country for 42 years and having attained the rank of Brigadier General. He is a graduate of the Air War College, City College of New York and holds two masters degrees from Troy State and Kansas State University. He was an instructor with Aviation Seminars, a board member of the Phoenix Wing of the American Aviation Historical Society. He was a volunteer with the Joe Foss Institute, teaching school children the importance of patriotism. He was a member of American Legion Post 107, Sunnyslope VFW Post 9400 and the Luke MOAA Chapter.
Allan is survived by his wife Denise, son Peter Anger, Mountville PA, daughters, Diane McQueen, Parks AZ, Marian Anger, Brooklyn NY, Elizabeth Anger, Conestoga PA, granddaughters Mia, Gabrielle, Gracelynn and a nephew Tony Anger, Tempe AZ.
He was preceded in death by his son Allan Anger, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Sunday December 5th at 4pm in the Sunrise Heights club house 17801 N. 16th St. Phoenix AZ 85022.
Interment with full military honors will take place at a later day in Holland Patent NY. Published by The Arizona Republic on Nov. 28, 2010.
