Ira Stone Dies at Hospital Friday

Funeral services for Ira Leon Stone were held from the Burlington Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, January 8 at 1 o'clock in charge of Rev. R. F. Hollis of LeRoy and Rev. George Banks of Elk City. Mrs. S.O. Avery and Mrs. J. M. Perkins sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the sunset" accompanied by Mrs. T. T. Kelly. Casket bearers were Frank Morrow, Allan Christy, Earl Herman, Theodore Reed, Lewis Morrow and Lore V. Bader. Burial was in Big Creek cemetery.

Ira Leon Stone was born March 16, 1884, to Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Stone at Burlington, Kans. He passed away January 5 at 3:45 p.m. at the Coffey County hospital at Burlington.

Mr. Stone spent his entire life in Coffey County.

On September 17, 1905 he was united in marriage to Lenora Jane Cokely. To this union two children were born, Henry Wayde and Lloyd Kenneth. Lloyd Kenneth preceded his father in death in 1919 at the age of one and one-half years.

He leaves besides his wife, Lenora, his son, Wayde and wife, one sister, Mrs. Etta hills of LeRoy township, three nieces, Miss Margaret Ann Stone of Erie, Pa., Mrs. Irma Kitchen of Drake, Colo., and Mrs. Rovilla Corley of Westphalia, Kans., also one granddaughter, Mrs. Louise Baer of Osawatomie and one great granddaughter, Janet Lea Baer of Osawatomie.
