Norbert Christian Engelhardt of Bay City, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw, age 80. He was the son of the late Christian & Hedwig (Sturm) Engelhardt. Norbert had been a farmer his entire life on his family's farm in Frankenlust Twp., where he was born on February 27, 1932. He was a lifelong member of St. John Amelith Lutheran Church. Norbert enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Engelhardt is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen O. (Ureche) Engelhardt; three children, Larry (Mary) Engelhardt of Commerce Twp., Karen (Daniel) Cieslinski of Auburn and Karl (Dorothy) Engelhardt of Berrien Springs; four grandchildren, Matthew Cieslinski, Jacob Cieslinski, Christopher Engelhardt and John Engelhardt; a brother, Loren Engelhardt of Skokie, IL; two sisters, Doreen (Reinhart) Hrdlovich of Port Huron and Lois (Ralph) Pretzer of Sanford; a sister-in-law, Irene Engelhardt of Linwood; and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Norbert was also preceded in death by his first wife, Erna (Schlicker) Engelhardt; a brother, Clarence Engelhardt; and a sister-in-law, Norma Engelhardt.

The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. John Amelith Lutheran Church, 1664 Amelith Rd., Bay City. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen P. Starke with interment following in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00pm. Mr. Engelhardt will lie instate at the church on Monday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Amelith Lutheran Church or to the donor's favorite charity.
