Ester was born to parents Oskar Kaleb (Oscar Karl) Dahlquist and Elin (Ellen) C/Kristina Karlsson/Carlson. Her father now known as Oscar Karl emigrated to the USA in 1903, Ester followed with her mother and 2 brothers, arriving in New York, New York May 15, 1904 on the ship United States. They made their way to Negaunee, Michigan where her father was living. Ester later made her way to Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan where she married Walter Gauthier November 27, 1919 in Detroit. She and Walter were auto factory workers on the 1920 census. Ester became ill, returned to Negaunee, Michigan where she died of tuberculosis.
