Jerry was born in Libertyville, Illinois. From there, he and his parents moved to North Charleston, South Carolina and on to Longwood, Florida before finally moving and settling in the community of Powhatan, Virginia. Due to the moves, he learned to readily adapt to his environment and communicate well with individuals he met along the way. One of the highlights of his life was traveling to Oklahoma with the FFA Soils Judging Team from Powhatan High School and participating in that event.

Jerry Wayne Armentrout, Jr. is the only child of Jerry Wayne Armentrout, Sr. and Hazel Boothe Armentrout. He was a Senior at Powhatan High School(Class of 1985), Powhatan, Va. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and an Honor-Roll student. He earned the money to buy his first car by mowing grass and doing yard work for people to build his savings account. Later he worked for Powhatan Correctional Center in the summer as a courier in a part time position. Before his death, he went to his school classes half day and worked half the day as an employee of Total Drug Store in Midlothian, Va. He named his car "Rodger Young" and always had an American flag visible therein. He planned to enlist in the military after graduation.

He was a wonderful son and we were fortunate that God shared him with us for the time that He did. The memories and good times sustain us until we all meet again at the Big Reunion!

Jerry is the grandson of Bessie Frances Salyers Boothe (30001829) and William Edward Boothe (30001779)of Marion, Va. and Mary Idella Cornett Armentrout (93134063)and James William Armentrout(93134022) of Falls Mills, Va., and Margaret Kent Hurt Armentrout (225529042).
