Rose Helen (Yelle) Martin was born in Menominee, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Yelle, and came to Au Sable Forks to live when but four years of age. She had made her home here since that time. She was married to Frank Martin, an employee of the J. & J. Rogers Company, on June 7, 1910. Mrs. Martin was a faithful communicant of Holy Name church and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society.
She was survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. James Glavin, Port Henry, and Mrs. Burt Cross, Au Sable Forks; one son, Lieut. Leon C. Martin, who left from a Pacific port just prior to his mother's death; five sisters, Mrs. Herman Root, Syracuse; Mrs. Charles Liscomb, Saranac Lake; Mrs. Henry D. Ryan, Au Sable Forks; Miss Cora Yelle, Champlain; Miss Laura Yelle, Washington, D. C; two brothers, Arthur Yelle, Buffalo; and Philip Yelle of Standish; also 10 grandchildren.
