Rev. Dean S. Abendroth was born on December 21, 1914 in (St.) Petersburg, Menard County, Illinois and died on August 14, 1985 in West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois, the son of Henry and Delcie (Steele) Abendroth. He married Electa Lee on June 12, 1934 in Effingham, Effingham County, Illinois.

His survivors included his wife; two sons, Dallas and Noblee; a daughter, Leah May Terrell; a sister, Glenna Hollingsead; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on August 17, 1985 in the Ingram Funeral Home, West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois with interment in the Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, Illinois.


Dean Abendroth, 70, West Salem, died at his home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Moravian Cemetery.

Mr. Abendroth was born Dec. 21, 1914, in St. Petersburg, the son of Henry and Delcie Steele. He married Electa Lee on June 12, 1934, in Effingham County. She survives.

He was a retired minister and school teacher in Albion. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and was ordained in ministry in 1957.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dallas, West Salem and Noble, Slaughters, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. Glenna Hollingshead of Centralia; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
