The former Victoria editor, died suddenly at his home in San Antonio. He was a native of Galveston, and well known in Houston.
Born in Galveston March 30, 1870, son of the late Dr. Thomas J. McFarland, he received his education in the at Indianola and Port Lavaca. Soon after leaving school he entered newspaper work and was for a time was editor of the Victoria Times. While editor of the the Times he became interested in state politics and represented and represented his district for several years in the legislature.
Mr. McFarland moved to Fort Worth several years ago, where he represented the Maverick-Clarke lithograph company. Two years before his death he was transferred to the home office in San Antonio when his
health failed.
Mr. McFarland is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mae Turner McFarland; a daughter, Mrs. Grace E. Morris of Victoria; a son, Clyde E. McFarland of Marfa; four sisters, Mrs. T.W. Grace of Port Lavaca; Mrs. Frank M. Dudgeon and Mrs. F. P. Penfield of Houston and Miss Carolyn McFarland of Fort Worth; two brothers, M. M. McFarland of Austin and Dr. Van E. McFarland of Eagle Pass.
