James had 16 younger siblings Sarah Arabell Herman (1873-1890); Anna Eliza Herman (1874-1965); Joseph B. Herman (1875-1947); Lucretia E. Herman (1877-1960); Mick Alabama Herman (1879-1974); Robert Franklin Herman (1881-1935); William Mace Herman (1882-1959); Benjamin Polk Herman (1884-1957); Steven Price Herman (1886-1950); Jennie Mae Herman (1888-1974); Douglas Gentry Herman (1890-1985); George Luther Herman (1892-1927); Gertrude Emma Herman (1894-1923); and Lillie Belle Herman (1896-1983).
