Youth Is Found Shot To Death. Preston County Journal. Kingwood, WV. Thur., Feb. 13, 1941. pg. 1
Morris Shaffer, Jr., 21, of Atlantic near Tunnelton, was found died Thursday afternoon about 1:30 by a sister and a discharged .22 caliber rifle was found between the young farmer's legs.
Coroner H. Foster Hartman said Friday that death was due to an accidentally self-inflicted wound. No further inquest was held. Shaffer's body was found by his sister, Maxine, who had gone to close the barn door.
Young Shaffer was the son of Morris Shaffer, Sr., and the late Ida McDaniel Shaffer. In addition to his father he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ethel
Holmes, Akron, Oh.; Mrs. Katherine Burke, Kingwood; Mrs. Elizabeth Hahn, Francis Shaffer, John Shaffer and Gus Shaffer, all of Tunnelton; Maxine and Marie Shaffer, at home. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Camp Ground Church and interment in the cemetery there.
