He was born to parents Karl August Hansson and Karolina Rask. Family records say he emigrated in 1892 and went directly to Negaunee, Michigan. He married Aiina (Ina) Serena Johnson August 31, 1907 in Negaunee, Michigan. They had seven children. He was a janitor, a gardener and lastly a farmer. He had severe heart problems and was unable to work and care for his family. He died at home, his farm at Goose Lake Hill near Negaunee, Michigan.
