Mr. Brandt was a native of Albany county, New York, having been born there December 11, 1820. He grew to manhood in that state, and in December, 1945, came to St. Clair and went to work in a saw mill for eight years he worked at lumbering here winters, going back to New York in the spring. In 1845 he bought forty acres of land where his house now stands and since then he has lived here and has been engaged in farming and lumbering,. He married Miss Thurza Hughes, a native of Essex County, New York, and his wife survives him together with one daughter, Mrs. Chas. Belnap.
Mr. Brandt left a fine improved farm of 80 acres free from debt. The farm will be occupied by Mrs. Belnap.
Mr. Brandt was a hard working economical, conscientious man. He was the main support of the Methodist Protestant church and he will be greatly missed by his family and neighbors and church.
