"George A. Dubois Civil War Veteran Dies at Hospital"

George Alonzo Dubois born February 17, 1846 in New York.

At an early age his parents moved to Wisconsin where he spent his childhood. When hardly more than a boy, Mr. Dubois enlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to the 21st Regiment of Wisconsin volunteers. This regiment was a part of Sherman's army. Mr. Dubois was in every battle on that famous march to the sea. He received no wounds in any of the conflicts and was honorably discharged at the end of the war. Mr. Dubois was an active man having lived in almost every state in the union while in the army and worked as a railroad man.

His home had been in St. Louis for the past 30 years until last September when following the death of his wife, when he moved to Eau Claire to live. Until two years ago, Mr. Dubois was actively involved as a private detective at the Terminal hotel of St. Louis, Mo. The deceased was suddenly and seriously ill last Sunday while vacationing at Lake Wissota. he had been a patient at Luther Hospital until he passed away at 6:30 on Saturday, July 1st.

He was a member of Masonic Shiloh Lodge in Fargo, North Dakota from which he was planning to transfer to the local lodge this fall. Also a member of Knights of Pythias in St. Louis.

Mr. Dubois is survived by his son, George A. Dubois, two grandsons Charles and Frank, one great granddaughter Joan and one great grandson, Loren. A sister, Mrs William Smith of Manning, ND, brother Frank of Milwaukee also survive. Mr Dubois made his home with his grandson, Frank on 4th street.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:30pm from the home on 707 4th Street.

Internment will be in Lake View cemetery with masonic auspices.
