George A. Surnear
George A. Surnear, age 66, of Mayfield, NY, died Saturday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital. Born March 18, 1938 in Canajoharie, NY, he was the son of Irving Sr. and Rose Dingman Surnear. He attended Canajoharie schools and lived in the Gloversville, Mayfield area most of his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Helen Thompson and her husband Eric of Gloversville and Anna Clark and her husband Randy of Johnstown; two brothers, Charles (Sonny) Surnear of Canajoharie and Clarence Hartwich of Little Falls, NY; two sisters, Mable Loring of Canajoharie and Irene Grains of Nebraska; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Surnear; and one brother, Irving Surnear Jr.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will directly follow at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Burial will take place at the Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home.
