Mrs. H. P. Omstead, for many years a resident of Glenrock, died instantly on Tuesday night when the car in which she was riding with her husband, went into the ditch on the hill just north of Orin on the highway. Mrs. Omstead's death was probably caused by shock, as she apparently suffered no physical injuries and she was known to be in poor health. Mr. Omstead was not injured. The Omsteads have been old residents of Glenrock, where Mr. Omstead has been engaged in the laundry business. Recently they moved to Torrington and Mr. Omstead has been bringing laundry from that place to the Glenrock Laundry. Tuesday night he had the car filled with laundry taking it to Torrington. Mary was the daughter of Ed and Mercy Gibson. She spent her girlhood in Canada and was married to Clarence L. Omstead in 1882. Two years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Omstead moved to the United States and lived in various part of this country and came to Glenrock in 1918 where they resided until a few weeks ago. To this union was born three sons, Clarence, who died at the age of 19, Herman T., engaged in the laundry business at Glenrock and E. Grant, a banker at Colgate, Oklahoma. (Information was obtained from her obituary in the Douglas Budget Nov. 18, 1926; Douglas Enterprise Nov. 23, 1926 and cemetery records.)
