Charles William Valentine was born September 22, 1918, in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania, the 3rd of 4 children, and only son of Charles Franklin and Bertha Adella Hyser Valentine. On September 9, 1939, in Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, he married Menetta Arlene Alice Noble, daughter of Robert Cleveland and Florence Mae Auchey Noble. They were the parents of 4 children. Charles passed away on December 4, 2004, in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, and was buried on the 9th in Jacksonville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Orange Park, Clay County, Florida.

"Valentine--Noble. Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss. Menetta A. A. Noble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Noble, Hanover, and Charles W. Valentine, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Valentine, New Oxford Route 1, which took place Saturday, September 9, at Leesburg, Virginia. The ceremony was performed in the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. Shannon Montgomery. They were unattended. The bride was attired in a grotto blue dress with brown accessories and wore a shoulderette of rose-buds. Both the bride and bridegroom are employed by the Coulson Heel Company, Hanover. Mr. and Mrs. Valentine are residing in the Hanover apartments."

"VALENTINE Charles W. 'Charlie' Valentine, 86 of Jacksonville passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004. The Hanover, PA native had made his home in Jacksonville for 55 years. Charlie had retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer with 22 years service. During his service he was in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in Korea during that conflict. After retiring he continued his life-long desire for learning with many varied interest as well as a full civil service career. He always considered himself a 'jack of all trades, but a master of none.' Charlie was also a member of Wesconnett Lodge, #297 F & AM, York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Morocco Temple. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Menetta Valentine. He was a great dad to four children; 3 daughters, Lynette (Robert) Reagle of Chesterfield, VA, Lisa (Jeffrey) Kelly of Macclenny; Loreen (George) Wiggins of Middleburg, and a son David M. Valentine, of Macclenny. Also surviving are a sister, Betty Benvenour, of Hanover, PA, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1426 Rowe Ave., Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Graveside funeral services will be held at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery on Thursday, December 9 at 2:00 PM with Masonic and Military Rites."
