Estill Hamilton " Sandy" Sandage, 82, passed away on March 2, 2002 after a two year illness. Born June 9, 1919 in Owensboro, KY, one of nine children and was the last of a large family of Gladys Sandage from Indiana. Mr. Sandage was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Sandage, May 19, 2001. They were married for 49 years. He leaves behind a loving daughter, Marilyn Daly; grandson, Scott Daly; sister-in-law, Mary Sandage and several nieces and nephews. Sandy belonged to Wesconnett Masonic Lodge and served as a faithful member and became Worshipful Master in 1963. He belonged the Scottish Rite and Morocco Temple. He served on the Rainbow Board for Wesconnett Assembly ORG and earned the Grand Cross of Colors. Sandy served in the US Navy from 1939-1946. WWII found him serving on the US Dixie. He so enjoyed this military relationship that he later worked at NAS from 53-73 as an electrician. Sandy was usually a quiet man that spent a lot of time helping neighbors and friends " fixing things". Lake Shore United Methodist was his church home. Family will receive friends Tuesday, (Today) 10-11 AM at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park with Graveside Masonic services to follow at 11 AM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Disease Foundation, 2131 Mango Place, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
