Laurel Man Dies After Stroke

George McMullen Succumbs at Home

George Benjamin McMullen, 79, resident of Montana since 1938, died of a cerbral hemorrhage following a stroke Tuesday morning at his home two miles south of Laurel. He had been in ill health for about three years.
Mr. McMullen was born Dec. 30, 1864, in Ontario, Canada, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. McMullen.He moved to Mankato, Kan., in 1885, and before his marriage was a stationary engineer installing steam equipment in industrial plants.
He married Minne Belle Chilcott at Mankato, and farmed in that vicinity for several years. After 1921 he operated a service station there until he moved to Silesia in 1938. He moved to the Laurel community in July 1943. He was a member of the Methodist church at Edgar.
Surviving are four sons, William H. McMullen, now employed in government construction work in the Aleutians, Smith W. McMullen, Stafford, Kan., Edward Lee McMullen, Southgate, Cal., and George C. McMullen of Laurel; a sister, Mrs. Arissa Smith, of Los Angeles and nine grandchildren.
The body is at Settergren's funeral home.
