Mr. J.W. Gibson, 62, of Vaiden, died December 7, 1998 at University Medical Center in Jackson of heart failure.
Born July 10, 1936 in Attala County, he was a former Highway Patrolman and Policeman. He was also a U.S. Army veteran as well as a Mason. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Gibson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gordon Parsley officiating. Burial was in the New Salem Cemetery in Kosciusko.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Armstrong Gibson of Vaiden; two sons, Scott Gibson of Kosciusko and Jamie Gibson of Vaiden; one brother, Wayne Gibson of Kosciusko; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jack Evans, Matt Welch, Jerry Shirley, Wiley Prewitt, Leroy Castill, and Richie McCorkle.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Cook, Ray Welch, Guy Weeks, Jimmy Holly, Wayne McCorkle and Bobby Lester.
Nowell Funeral Home of Kosciusko was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gibson, the husband of Geneva A. Gibson, also leaves two sons, Scott Gibson of Kosciusko and Jamie Gibson of Vaiden; a brother, Wayne Gibson of Kosciusko, and five grandchildren.
