Born in Irma on January 20, 1915, Ruth was the daughter of Albert Adna and Margaret Ellen Stevenson Batchelder. In 1933, she married Victor P. Schreiber, Jr., in Tomahawk. He died in 1976. In 1983, Ruth married Milton C. Bratley in Bonita Springs, FL. He died in 1989.
Ruth lived in Rhinelander for 52 years where she was a housewife and member of First Methodist Church, Rhinelander. She was also a life member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary, Rhinelander, V.F.W. Auxiliary and a member of Methodist Church Circles.
Survivors include daughters Darlene (Richard E.) Plautz, Merrill and Shirley (William) Wagler, Rhinelander; sons Ronald (Marlee) Schreiber, Merrill, and Larry (Pat) Schreiber, Rhinelander; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Ruth is further survived by sisters Margaret (Carl) Henrichs, Merrill, Delores (Art) Boyd, Port Angeles, WA and Ila Buchanan, Lamont, CA; and brothers Louis (Evelyn) Batchelder, Two Rivers, Howard (Vivian) Batchelder, Alvin (Blythe) Batchelder and Delbert (Mary) Batchelder, all of Hayden Lake, ID, and Leland (Denise) Batchelder, Carey, ID. She was preceded in death by an infant son, sister Gladys Eckerle and brothers Clifford, Glenn and Victor Batchelder.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, February 10, 1998, at First Methodist Church, Rhinelander. Rev. Tony Fuller officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Methodist Church, Rhinelander. Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
