Juanita met her husband at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf.
They lived in Oklahoma and Texas until they moved to California in 1964. Juanita was very involved in the local deaf community and spent hours playing bingo and gambling with friends. She was a very social woman and hosted many events in her home and assisted with the "Deaf Club" events on a regular basis. She loved to play slot machines and would often go to Reno and Tahoe on organized "Deaf" trips. She was a homemaker and spent hours involved in arts & crafts, even winning prizes in county fairs and competitions. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats, some would say more than people. Animals, especially hers, always came first.
Grandma was very family centered and helped raise all 6 of her grandchildren in some way.
Juanita had a very dry sense of humor that was only shown to those who knew her best. She was a matter-of-fact woman who told the truth, sometimes unfortunately with no tact.
She was a tough woman who survived the death of her husband and 3 of her 4 children with no self-pity.
She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
