WATERLOO — In His infinite love and mercy, God has called home the soul of Violet E. Riege on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Violet was born on Jan. 4, 1930, in the town of Portland the daughter of Walter and Hattie (Geise) Krueger. She attended Gaffney Country School and St. John Lutheran School. She married Jerome Riege on Sept. 28, 1957, at St. John Lutheran Church Waterloo, where they are members. During her working years, Violet worked at the Waterloo and Beaver Dam Shoe Factories until her retirement.
Survivors include, husband, Jerome Riege of Waterloo; daughter, Shirley (Dean) Jaeger of Waterloo; two sons, Gary (Deb) Krueger and Jerry (Cheri) Riege both of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Lillian Riege of Waterloo and Barbara Steinberg of Nampa, Idaho; also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Rolland and Robert; sisters, Edith, Leona, Ethelyn and Phyllis. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or Rainbow Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, at St. John Lutheran Church Waterloo with the Rev. Thomas Wilsmann officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in the town of Portland.
