Metro Nashville and Davidson County Police officer, Hermitage Precinct, Tennessee. Killed in the line of duty by a reckless truck driver on Interstate 40 East bound. Funeral service was July 23, 2004 in Dickson Tennessee at Taylor Funeral Home. Burial was in Memory Gardens in Hickman County Tennesee. Prior to attending the police academy Christy was employed by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Cause of death is presumed to be blunt force trauma. Christy was helping a stranded motorist change a flat tire, with the lights of her police car activated, when her police car was struck from behind by the semi-truck and trailer. She had a profund influence upon those who knew her and will be greatly missed by the Nashville Community. Christy is the 2nd female officer to be killed in the line of duty in Nashville Davidson County, Tennessee. Christy was a graduate of Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN and a Masters Degree candidate at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. Officer Dedman is survived by her parents and a brother and many many relatives and friends. Christy died just before her first aniversary of service as Metro Nashville and Davidson County Police Officer . Christy was 35 years old.
