Brown eyed Alfonso was born on December 29, 1868 in the town of Melfi, located in the Province of Potenza, which is in the Southern Italian Region of Basilicata. He was the son of Giuseppe Simonetti and Lucia Cassotta-Simonetti both of Melfi, Italy.

Alfonso left Italy in October of 1898 with his wife Francesca Maria Montagna-Simonetti and arrived in America in November of 1898 in New York City. He was a shoemaker by trade.

As of 1910, he owned his own shoe repair shop in the Bronx where he resided with his wife and family.

In 1940, Alfonso was paralyzed from a stroke. He remained in a wheelchair and was sick from May 1, 1938 until he died on Sunday, May 31, 1942 in the apartment he rented with his wife at 997 Morris Avenue, Bronx, New York. According to his New York City death Certificate, Alfonso suffered from heart disease as well as Parkinson Disease.

He was buried on Wednesday, June 3, 1942.

He was survived by his wife beloved wife Francesca Maria Montagna-Simonetti and his loving children Anthony Simonetti, Lucia a/k/a Lucille Simonetti-Heller, Catherine Simonetti-Amoruso, Rocco Vincenza a/k/a Rocco Vincent Simonetti and Concetta a/k/a Connie Simonetti-Luther-Collier.
