Dale Ross Smith, 45, Longtime Rochester resident and musician, died of cancer Dec. 18, at St. Marys Hospital after a year-long illness.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 23, 1932, near Spring Valley. He married Sandy Larson in June of 1963 in Rochester. The couple resided in Rochester most of their lives where he worked as a musician and held various daytime jobs.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Musician's Union Local.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Marty, at home; his mother Ethel Smith of Rochester; two sisters, Hazel Kuhfuss and Harriet Staver, both of Rochester; four brothers, Donald of Rochester, Lyle of Boscobel, Wis., Ernie of Leach Lake, Minn., and Richard of Wykoff. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers.
