According to the book "An Account of the Family of D.L. Wardlaw" compiled by her husband, David Lewis Wardlaw, (Abbeville Press and Banner Print, 1891) she was given the name of Sarah Rebecca at birth and "was baptized of that name by Rev. Dr. Barr at Upper Long Cane Meeting House, near Abbeville Court House, about 1834." He notes "was at Mrs. Madlon's school, Philadelphia, 1820-1822, and there took the name of Rosalie." Hence she appears in some records as Sarah Rebecca ALLEN Wardlaw, and as Sarah Rosalie ALLEN Wardlaw in other records.
