In 1917, Charles was married and living in Cimarron, OK, with either his first or second wife.

Addie died some time between 1910 and 1920.

Charles was married to his second wife, Mary C. Lilly, by 1920. In that year, they lived together in Mosquero County, NM, next door to Charles' parents. Mary was born 1895 in Kansas. Her father was from Kentucky and her mother from Illinois.

In 1925, Charles and Mary were living in Liberal, Seward County, Kansas.

In 1930, Charles and Mary were living in Denison, Grayson County, TX. Mary's brother, William L. Lilly (single and 32 yo), was living with them.

In 1940, Charles was a widow and lived in Sublette, Haskell County, KS. He had been in that county at least 5 years.

On January 9, 1941, when he was 54 years old, Charles married 18-year-old Dorothy Fletcher in Guymon, Texas County, Oklahoma.

Charles was a baptist. He worked as a laborer, a railroad switchman, a bartender, a farmer and an automobile mechanic. He died from heart disease.
